Dragonflies

Ein Gedicht von Rebecca Rott.

Illustration: Rebecca Rott

Two rows down, right hand side
key chain, rainbow, tie untied
swords and butterflies
queer codes analyzed
pomegranates stitched and
blue eyed dragonflies

You took me to the candy shop
R’n’B and hip hop
Both breathless, open mouths
smoke in my lungs
one sober, one drunk
arched back, bent knees
stood up to the beat
thoughts erased with
your hand on my waist
You dipped me it was hot
Like damn, oh god

Florence + oranges
A windshield heart
I look at you sideways
cussing at cars
chilled to the bone
your thoughts unknown
I wish we were
Still driving alone

wrong words, fake smiles
compliments remain
no hugs, rolled eyes
I now take the train

I still like you though
or a feeling akin
is it over I wonder
or yet to begin

Try me, baby
would you be in?
I could have whiskey
You could have gin.
